SHAH ALAM - A viral video of a hijabi woman drinking cider and expressing sadness and acknowledging "mental breakdown" has sparked reactions on social media, with many users criticising her action.

The 1.39 minute Twitter clip shows a young female in distress and struggling to cope with her turmoil.

The video was shared on Twitter by user @MALAYSIAVIRALL, who wrote "Ini lah perempuan bodoh ye kawan-kawan. Anak cucu kita di jauhi dari perempuan seperti ini." (This is a stupid girl, friends. Our grandchildren should be kept away from women like this).

The woman, wearing a brown hijab, was captured in the video sitting in the driver's seat while drinking Sommersby cider, which has an alcohol content of 4.5 per cent.

"Yes, I know it’s haram (forbidden). I know. Thank you for the advice.

"I don’t know what to say. I’m so down right now. I feel like I’m having a mental breakdown," she said, responding to the comments by social media users during her livestream on TikTok.

This video has gained over 944.6K views, 1,881 retweets, and 3,410 likes at the time of writing.

The video has stirred criticism and debate due to her inappropriate behaviour.

Twitter user @umimrshthh commented: "Been working in 7 Eleven (a convenience store) before. This drink contains 100 per cent alcohol. By looking at the packaging already known (alcohol drink),

Another Twitter user, @iampitaloka, said: "It's embarrassing if non-Muslims see her wearing a hijab. If the high school students watch this, they be enablers."

Medical reports say mental health has been on the increase post pandemic, affecting one's overall well-being, including emotional, psychological and influencing one's ability to cope with stress, relate to others and to make decisions.
