SHAH ALAM - The upcoming state elections in six states next month marks a new era for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said it was time to open a new book and close the previous chapters to the PH and BN supporters during the launching of Madani Unity machinery for Selangor.

He said it was time to forget the past differences and focus on unity for the state.

He even expressed confidence that the Unity coalition could win over Kedah, Terengganu and even Kelantan.

"We are confident to win at Kedah, Terengganu and insyaAllah Kelantan.

"Kelantan you should see how successful Selangor is under the Unity Government and you should join us as well to be successful," he said.

He added that if a new government is formed, it should be PH-BN.

"I also would like to appreciate Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, who is young but has mature thinking.

He promised, together with other ministers, that they would keep on supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"We promise that we will always be under this government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; this is our promise.

"We hope people in Selangor will deny them and continue to support us," he added.

Zahid also said he respected MCA and MIC’s decision not to field their candidates for the elections.

He was speaking at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani and launch of the machinery for Selangor today in Bangi.

The major key dates for the polls in the six states - Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan - begins on July 29 for nomination day, Aug 8 for early voting and polling day on Aug 12.
