KUALA TERENGGANU - Perikatan Nasional (PN) seems to have quite some confidence in the upcoming state polls and even thinks that the current government will fall, if they managed to capture most of the states.

Its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the state election on Aug 12 will determine whether the current federal government can keep their power or otherwise.

"God willing, if across these six states that we are contesting in, even if in five we win big, I think it will shake Anwar's government.

"It is a sign at an early stage that the government in Putrajaya is unlikely to survive for long. The government will fail in the near future. It will fall and not be able to survive anymore," he said.

He said so while speaking at the Terengganu PN Best Mega Tour at the draw bridge square on Saturday night.

According to Muhyiddin, the confidence came from the extraordinary wave of support shown by the people for the party since the 15th General Election (GE15) up until now.

He said that in the last general election, PN had the support of 80 per cent of the Muslim population and the momentum was increasing from time to time including across Kelantan and Terengganu.

GE15 in November last year saw PN won 74 seats, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 82 while Barisan Nasional (BN) won 30.
