SHAH ALAM - DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook has slammed Kedah Menteri Besar for making a "sweeping statement" that the Chinese and Indians are the main source of corruption in Malaysia.

Loke sweeping statement from Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is "baseless and irresponsible".

"Such sweeping statements not only lack foundation but also incite feelings of hatred among the different ethnic groups in our diverse society," he said in a statement, today.

Yesterday during a live telecast event, Sanusi was reported to have claimed that most sources of corruption originated from non-Muslims.

Loke said: "We challenge Sanusi to present the report that led to such conclusions. Where are the facts? Based on what studies?".

He said Sanusi should if he fails to provide evidence.

Loke, the Transport Minister also said the issue of corruption must be fought collectively and anyone involved in corruption was in the wrong, regardless of their ethnic background.

"Corruption should not be linked to any particular community. Wrong is wrong, regardless of who commits it," Loke told Sanusi who is Perikatan Nasional Election Director.

The repeated statements like these proves that the Perikatan Nasional is a threat to the harmony among ethnic groups in Malaysia, Loke said, adding that such statements should be rejected in the interest of Malaysian unity.
