Voters survey: PH, PN battle for Selangor Malay votes

SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalitions emerged as the preferred parties with support in the Selangor State Elections according to the 'Selangor Malay Voters' Opinion Survey' conducted by Endeavour-MGC as of June 18.

The survey found that 42 per cent of the 1,068 respondents who were registered Malay voters in Selangor chose Pakatan Harapan (PH) while another 33 per cent of the respondents selected PN for the upcoming Selangor State Elections next month.

About 15 per cent of the respondents chose Barisan Nasional (BN) and one per cent chose Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda).

However, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) did not receive any support, as nine per cent of the respondents answered that they were unsure.

Based on the study's findings, respondents who were unsure may potentially vote for PN as the Opposition at the federal level.

The survey conducted from June 12 to June 18 also revealed that 61 per cent of the respondents considered the party as the most important factor when deciding their vote in the upcoming State Elections.

Meanwhile, 28 per cent of the respondents based their decision on individual factors or candidates, seven per cent considered religious background, three per cent chose economic factors, and one per cent selected ethnicity.

The survey was conducted in 56 constituencies of the State Legislative Assembly seats, with a breakdown of 50 per cent male and 50 per cent female respondents.
