There’s something rather amusing about discovering little-known facts about public figures, like finding out they love the same ice cream flavour as you do. It makes them more relatable!

Malaysians were delighted to discover that popular certified dermatologist Dr Pimple Popper, whose real name is Dr Sandra Lee, has Malaysian roots.

She revealed in a comment on another American content creator’s TikTok page, that her mother is from Kuantan.

“My mom is from Kuantan, I hear your subtle accent!” she wrote in the comment on another content creator’s page.

While her mother is from Kuantan, her father who is a retired dermatologist is from Singapore and migrated to New York before Dr Lee was born.

Dr Lee also recently made a visit to Malaysia to spend time with her relatives.

She shared a picture of her nieces wearing the kebaya and even shared with her viewers about the kebaya as a traditional outfit.

She also took a picture next to a giant durian statue.

Dr Lee’s videos of skin extractions began to gain traction online in 2015, and from there she launched her own skincare line followed by landing her own television series on TLC which has nine seasons and counting.
