4-year-old boy dies after being hit by vehicle in Petaling Jaya
PETALING JAYA - A 4 year-old foreign boy died after being hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle at Jalan SS 9A/8, Sungai Way, near here on Sunday.
The Petaling Jaya District Chief of Police, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said, his team received the road accident report involving the Nissan X-Trail with the child at approximately 7.27pm.
"Preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at 5.30 pm, when the victim suddenly ran across the road while the vehicle was passing through the area.
"The driver of the vehicle is suspected to not have been able to brake in time and hit the victim. The child died at the University of Malaya Medical Centre while receiving treatment, " he said in a statement on Monday.
Mohamad Fakhrudin said, the driver of the vehicle involved has been arrested and allowed bail after the investigations is over.
Investigations are still ongoing under the Section 41,1987 Road Transport Act. The public and whoever was at the scene who saw or witnessed the incident, is asked to go to the nearest Police station or contact the Traffic Investigation Officer, Inspector R Navalan at 014-2536820 to assist in the investigation," he said.
