MALMO, SWEDEN - A Swedish court on Monday convicted climate campaigner Greta Thunberg of having disobeyed police orders at a rally last month in the city of Malmo, sentencing her to a fine, an AFP photographer at the scene heard.

Thunberg admitted to the Malmo district court that she had not listened to police orders to relocate, but denied criminality citing the necessity created by the "climate crisis."

But the judge said she was still liable and fined her 1,500 kronor ($144) plus an additional 1,000 kronor to the Swedish fund for victims of crime - AFP
