3R: Embrace respectful, responsible, relatable approach instead - Analyst

SHAH ALAM - Amidst a charged political cycle, making statements that touch on 3R issues (race, religion and royal institution) would draw severe criticisms from the public.

KRA Group political risk consultant Amir Fareed Rahim said therefore, it was essential to ensure that due process was being followed in investigations into cases involving such issues.

He added that it was also crucial to make sure that there was no double standard treatment in the investigations.

He said every individuals should be subjected to thorough and fair investigations, allowing sufficient time for proper examination.

Both the investigation and court procedures should adhere to due process, Amir said citing the sedition case faced by caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in court.

"Simultaneously, politicians must demonstrate greater responsibility. While they may represent race or religion-based parties, Malaysian politics inherently encompasses a multiracial social fabric.

"Thus, politicians must be mindful of their words and actions in public spaces, adopting a 3R approach of being respectful, responsible, and relatable to win votes," Amir said during Sinar Daily's Wacana programme entitled 'Finding Middle Ground for 3R Conversations'.

Amir said responsible conduct was crucial to maintain unity and understanding within the diverse Malaysian society.
