GURUN - Kedahans were asked to think twice if they were contemplating voting for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the coming Aug 12 state polls.

The caution was aired by Jerai MP Sabri Azit at a hustings at Dataran Caltex, here, tonight, who recounted several deceits of those helming the Federal Government.

"We finally saw the Prime Minister’s (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) true character. The constituents who voted for us, the opposition MPs, have been tortured (by him).

"How so? Because they deprived us of the allocation for all MPs that they themselves promised in their manifesto for the 2022 General Election (GE15).

"They promised that they would be fair to all MPs and that they would not treat us like stepsons," Sabri alleged.

He added that all 74 opposition MPs spent two weeks debating in parliament over the matter, which he essentially described as a wild goose chase.

"We were asked to negotiate with so many terms and conditions. So we told them, if you want to give money to the rakyat, there shouldn’t be any terms and conditions," Sabri recounted.

Another example of the government’s deceit, said Sabri, was Umno’s partnership with PH—the cooperation that allowed Anwar to become PM given how GE15 ended in a hung parliament.

"When they (Umno) were part of Muafakat Nasional (MN), they said, No DAP. No Anwar. Yet now, suddenly, they are with Anwar.

"In fact, the man who said those very words yesterday announced an allocation of RM250,000 and asked the voters to support them.

"But of course, the prime minister said that what dangled was not a bribe," Sabri said rhetorically.

The controversial offer to which Sabri was referring was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s announcement yesterday, where he revealed the allocation at an electoral hustings in Terengganu.
