Typhoon Doksuri affects over 2 million people in Philippines

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Typhoon Doksuri affected over two million people in the Philippines, and the death toll from disaster-related incidents has risen to 51, including 26 people who died in a boat sinking incident.

Anadolu Agency reported the latest details shared by the Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Monday showed that 20 people are still missing, while around 52 others are injured.

The archipelago nation was hit by the southwest monsoon, or "habagat,” it also quoted daily Inquirer reported.

Twenty-six people were killed last Thursday when a boat sank in Laguna de Bay off Binangonan, Rizal province, due to strong winds.

While people in 4,111 barangays, or the smallest administrative unit, were hit nationwide, prompting authorities to evacuate people to safer places, and their total number reached around 312,995 people. - BERNAMA
