Malaysia Madani concept in line with Tun Dr Ismail's philosophy, vision - granddaughter

KUALA LUMPUR - The granddaughter of the late Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, Kamariah Shakirin Mustafa, described the Malaysia Madani concept introduced by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as a continuation of her grandfather's philosophy, principles and vision.
She said that the understanding and consensus, which was signed in the country’s constitution when achieving independence, must always be upheld by all levels of society, regardless of race, and that is what is being tried to be applied in the concept of Malaysia Madani.
"When I talk about how my grandfather and Malaysia Madani ties together, look at his (Dr Ismail's) policy, and when you look at what my grandfather stood for and what Malaysia Madani is, I think we should look at it multiculturally, and how policies are today,” she told Bernama after the Commemoration of Statesman Tun Dr Ismail Al-Haj: Pillar of National Unity, here today.
In the meantime, she also expressed her deepest gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzildi, for organising such a glorious event, attended by nearly 10,000 people, including Cabinet ministers.
"Thus far, my family members and I have never seen appreciation given to my late grandfather such as this, and this really touches my heart,” she said.
The Commemoration of Statesman Tun Dr Ismail Al-Haj: Pillar of National Unity, was held for the first time in conjunction with the National Month, to commemorate the deeds and contributions of Dr Ismail as an important figure in governance and national unity.
The organisation of the event, led by the Communications and Digital Ministry, is the result of the strategic collaboration of various departments and agencies, including the Prime Minister's Office. - BERNAMA
