SEBERANG JAYA – Sebarang Jaya Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Izhar Shah Arif Shah says he is confident that there are Umno members who will give silent support towards him in the state polls.

He said as a son of former Umno member Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, there were some of his father's friends still in the party who will support him.

"Previously, my dad was an Umno man. However, his membership was suspended.

"Until today, there has not been one Umno leader who wants to have visionary people (in the party) like my father.

"And I’m pretty sure, my father has many friends in Umno who will give their silent support to me," Izhar told Sinar Daily in an exclusive interview during his walkabout at Bandar Perda.

Izhar is the son of Arif Shah who was the former Seberang Jaya assemblyman from Barisan Nasional (BN) who had served for two terms from 2004 to 2013.

Arif Shah, when contacted revealed that he has been suspended by Umno a long time ago.

“It has been a long time. Many years ago,” Arif Shah said in a brief comment to Sinar Daily.
