State polls: 75 reports lodged in Selangor on sixth day of campaign

SHAH ALAM - A total of 75 reports were received by the Selangor Police on the sixth day of the state election campaign in the state.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said that out of this number, the police have opened two investigation papers under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.

"One case involves deliberately breaking a Perikatan Nasional party flag by an unidentified person in Section U2, Shah Alam.

"Another case involves damaged banners and flagpoles, and missing buntings that were installed in Bandar Botanik, Klang," he said in a statement on Friday.

He stated that the offence under Section 427 of the Penal Code carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term not less than one year and not more than five years, or a fine, or both.

Additionally, monitoring of campaigns and political talks found that a total of 263 events were carried out with approved permits.

"A total of 201 campaigns and 62 talks were held with permits," he said.

As such, all competing candidates and party supporters were reminded to act responsibly and comply with the advice, regulations, and instructions set by the Royal Malaysia Police and the Election Commission (EC) throughout this campaign period.
