BUKIT MERTAJAM - The statement made by Pas secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, regarding the Perikatan Nasional (PN) wave in the six states facing state elections is described as a political statement.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the people should choose political stability, reject extremist views, and drive economic growth.

Giving an example in Kedah, Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairman, said that the reception in Kedah during his visit on Friday was excellent.

"It's okay, that's a political statement. I was in Kedah yesterday, and the reception was perfect. We can't deny that.

"So, in the end, the people must choose: first, political stability, rejecting extremist views, and driving economic growth.

"We have clarified our successes in these areas," he said when met after the opening ceremony of the 16th Malaysia National Economic Conference in Seberang Jaya today.

Anwar, who is also the PKR President, made these remarks when asked to comment on Takiyuddin's statement claiming that the PN wave in the six states indicated a clear signal that the Unity Government will fall in August.

Takiyuddin further mentioned that the support from the supporters in the six states has been very positive so far.

Takiyuddin also urged all voters to continue supporting PN by translating it through their votes on Aug 12.

In another development, when asked to comment on Pas' apology regarding the incident involving the President of the Gerakan, Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, Anwar said there are still many things that Pas needs to apologise for.

"There are many things that still require an apology, that's just one," he said briefly.

Previously, the media reported that Dominic, was allegedly stopped from attending the Mega PN Best talks in Sungai Dua.

The mega talks featured Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

It was reported that the Penang PN chairman was asked to leave the event as he was said to be uninvited to participate in the programme.

Following that, Pas apologised and expressed discomfort regarding the incident.

The apology was made by Takiyuddin on his Facebook page yesterday.

In his statement, Takiyuddin said that even though Dominic later denied the allegations, the central leadership of Pas believed that his presence should be accepted and respected as a guest based on Islamic ethics and principles.
