Hijab or not, Pantai Jerejak Muda candidate proudly represents Malaysian women

BAYAN LEPAS - Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) candidate for Pantai Jerejak, Priyankaa Loh, has expressed confidence in winning the support of Malay voters for the upcoming state seat election, thanks to their positive feedback.

In an exclusive interview with Sinar Daily, Priyankaa, though not a Muslim, stressed that she considers herself a Malaysian woman, not confined to any specific ethnic background.

She believes this approach will resonate with the hearts of 35 per cent of the Malay voters in Pantai Jerejak.

"While I might not be wearing a tudung (hijab), I am confident and believe that I can connect with the Malay voters here.

"I have close Malay friends, and in the past, I have fasted during Ramadan with them, gaining an understanding of the Islamic religion.

"I deeply respect all my Malay friends and approach every Malay voter here without any biases," she said.

Priyankaa shared that she regularly engages with Malay individuals, discussing various topics, including politics and the economy, fostering strong relationships.

The Pantai Jerejak state seat consists of 50 per cent Chinese voters and 12 per cent Indian voters.

Priyankaa underscores the importance of embracing cultural differences and celebrating the common humanity that unites Penangites.

In the upcoming election on Aug 12, she will be up against Fahmi Zainol from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Oh Tong Keong from Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Ravinder Sing from Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) for the Pantai Jerejak state seat.
