SHAH ALAM - Barisan Nasional expects about 2,000 returning voters to influence the outcome of the Pelangai by election to the State Legislative Assembly.

With a travel distance of less than three hours from the Klang Valley to Pelangai, high hopes are placed on approximately 2,000 external voters to return and fulfill their responsibility of selecting their representative.

While it is considered a challenge for Barisan Nasional (BN) to retain the traditional Umno seat, its candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, remains optimistic.

He said external voters have a responsibility to vote for BN as representatives who can assist and serve their family members and fellow villagers in line with BN's tagline, 'No promises just results.'

"In this battle, our confidence remains because this is a strong BN stronghold, and I don't feel uneasy. Returning voters need to understand that after voting, they will go back, but those who stay behind are their parents and friends who live here.

“If their friends and parents have problems, who is here and who will help and assist them?" he said, while also reminding young Felda voters not to make decisions solely for their own pleasure.

Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Kasim Samat is seen as adopting a more grassroots campaign approach by visiting the homes of voters.

With the tagline 'Mudoh Bawok Bincang,' ( easy to discuss) the Felda settlement area is seen as the focus of his campaign, especially Felda Chemomoi and Felda Sungai Kemahal, which have a total of 5,803 voters.

This is because PN's support base is said to be quite comfortable in Felda Kemasul, which has 2,180 voters.

Through a Facebook post, Cikgu Kasim expressed an incredible sense of enthusiasm when visiting the Felda area due to the mood of the voters, which seems to be in favour of PN.

In one campaign event in Felda Sungai Kemahal, he visited nearly 50 houses on foot from early morning until late afternoon.

"I don't know, people used to say that Felda is an Umno stronghold, but now it's different. That's what makes me incredibly enthusiastic. I don't even know what tiredness is," he wrote in the post.

However, at this point, PN is heavily relying on its influential leaders including political heavyweight Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to influence fence-sitters voters.
