KUALA TERENGGANU - A group of individuals have lodged a police report claiming that a Terengganu Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the state election had allegedly tried bribed voters while campaining at a State Legislative Assembly area on Aug 4.

The report was lodged at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters (IPD) around 11am, today.

Mohd Hilmi Jusoh, 33, along with several other individuals represented the voters in the area in lodging the police report after they found that the candidate had violated the campaigning rules set by the Election Commission (EC).

“Based on the evidence obtained through social media, we found that there were elements of bribery during the campaign process at the Ladang Gemilang flat, here on Aug 4.

“It happened during the ‘Engine Oil Exchange’ programme with some of his personnel, attended by a rider group.

“The candidate was present and there’s evidence of him pouring the engine oil into the motorcycle of a recipient,” Hilmi said when met by reporters after lodging the police report.

He said the offence was enshrined under Sections 8,9 or 10 of the Election Offences Act 1954.

“We hope that this report receives the attention and authorities would take action to ensure each party contesting obeys the guidelines set by the EC,” he said
