SABAK BERNAM - Pakatan Harapan (PH) is optimistic that Barisan Nasional (BN) will be able to secure more than five seats in the upcoming Selangor state elections to help maintain the unity government in the state, said caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Amirudin said that this momentum is based on the support from the people who favor the collaboration between the PH and BN coalition in the state.

"Some of BN's seats have been won back, perhaps more than five or six," he said during a ceramah in Sekinchan today.

Amirudin mentioned that if victory is achieved, he is confident that the PH and BN coalition can obtain between 38 to 40 out of the 56 contested seats in the Selangor state elections.

"I believe the people have made wise judgments, and support is currently at the level of 60 to 70 per cent, with decisions already made to support the state government," he explained.

However, Amirudin advised all PH-BN machinery not to underestimate their opponents.

"We will continue to work hard as various issues (raised by the opposition) come up and down every day during the campaign," he added.

Responding to the potential victory of the Sekinchan state assembly seat, held by Ng Suee Lim for the past five terms, Amirudin remains confident that the seat will continue to be won by the DAP candidate.

"I see Sekinchan as a challenging area, but it can be maintained with the support of the unity components," he said.

When asked about the chances of PH-BN winning in Northern Selangor, Amirudin stressed that the coalition's collaboration remains strong in winning over voters.

He stated that the momentum of victory is not only in urban areas but also in Northern Selangor, where the majority of voters are Malays.

"We believe that even in Northern Selangor, support is in favor of the state government, and it can be maintained to ensure the continuity of state governance," he said.

In the 14th General Election, BN won four state assembly seats in Sungai Air Tawar, Sungai Panjang, Sungai Burong, and Hulu Bernam. BN later gained one more seat after winning the by-election in Semenyih.
