KUALA LUMPUR – If Perikatan Nasional (PN) intends to come to Selangor, they should be coming just as 'tourists', says Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

According to a report by English daily New Straits Times, the Umno vice-president said PN leaders were welcomed to come visit Selangor and learn how to administer the state from the current government.

"If they (PN) want to come to Selangor, we welcome them as tourists,” Johari said during the 'Sesi Bicara PRN', yesterday.

The Titiwangsa MP and former second finance minister said it was good for PN leaders to learn how Selangor and Penang were able to manage the economy despite the states not being aligned with the federal government for three terms.

"There's nothing wrong with learning from people who understand about administering a state," he said.

Johari added that the performance of the state depended heavily on the competence of its leaders.

He pointed out that Kelantan's contribution to the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) was only 1.9 per cent, while Selangor's contribution was at 25.5 per cent.

"How is PN saying they want to change Selangor?," he questioned.

He also urged voters in Kelantan to give the unity government a chance to manage the state.

"When choosing a political party (to vote), look at their objectives. If it is to overthrow the government, then wait until 2027 (when this government's term ends)," he was reported saying.
