SHAH ALAM - Changes in the country's political landscape cannot be tied to mere perception, but instead need to be in line with facts and implement the needs or wishes of the people in accordance with the current circumstance.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Paya Jaras state assembly Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri said that with various social media platforms, voters especially young people were more aware of changes in the country's politics and demanded changes as promised during the campaign.

"In my opinion, politicians need to be more mature and if they are still building perceptions, it will backfire when their statements are twisted by some parties.

"I see this change becoming more open and mature especially the younger generation is seen paying attention to politics.

"This is a positive thing because young people have to pay attention to politics," he said on Sinar Live entitled 'Mampukah Jadi Hadiah PN?' hosted by Asraf Awaluddin on Wednesday.

According to Halim, today's voters were more intelligent in assessing whether the leaders were capable of carrying out their responsibilities or just creating rhetoric to win.

The former Selangor Islamic University College (Kuis) Rector said that with the change, it was not impossible for PN to capture Selangor based on the results of the 15th General Election (GE15).

He said that with the maturity and changes in the existing political landscape, it was not impossible for PN to bring change to voters, especially in Paya Jaras with the party's previous record of achievements.

"The political landscape changed during GE15 when we captured six Selangor parliamentary constituencies and this shows that it is not impossible that it can be a momentum for change.

"Based on the current facts and the data we have, the people want positive change and this is not impossible looking at the maturity of the voters," he explained.

Meanwhile, Halim also described PN's manifesto as comprehensive and inclusive of every level of society capable of leading Selangor towards better progress.

According to him, PN's priority in the campaign was to ensure the well-being of the B40 and M40 groups who are under economic pressure.

"We have seven pillars that form the basis of balance from an economic, political, social and more aspects.

"The Selangor Kita Bangkit manifesto is a perfect one that covers all parties including education especially for B40," he said.
