SEREMBAN: Umno is no longer a holy and sacred party if it continues to work together with Pakatan Harapan (PH), said Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

The Perlis PN chairman said in the coalition of PH and Barisan Nasional (BN), DAP has the most seats with 40 Parliamentary seats.

With PKR having 31 seats and Umno 30 seats, Shahidan said the situation makes Umno the third party in the coalition.

“If they continue to cooperate until the next elections, Umno will no longer be the main party, the sacred party.

“But if Umno is with us, Insya-Allah they will be jointly supported.

"However, I think the president (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) is no longer fit to lead Umno because he is a liability.

“I believe if he asks all Umno members to vote on their support for DAP, they will surely reject it,” he said this during a press conference after a series of campaigns at State Legislative Assembly (Dun) Rantau, here last night.

The former Umno member added that not only Zahid is a burden to Umno, but to PH too.

He stressed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would not excel having a corrupted deputy prime minister sitting next to him.

“PH has been locking antlers with us because of his presence there. Because he is a liability.

“Why? Because Anwar said they’re against corruption, they’d arrest those taking and giving bribes but what about him (Zahid)?

“He said Zahid’s case had already been filed in the court but then the lead public prosecutor withdrew. Now, we hear the case would be reviewed.

“All these will jeopardise Anwar’s image as a great prime minister,” he added. - Awani
