IPOH - The body of an 11-year-old boy who drowned while bathing with a friend in Sungai Perak beside Jambatan Sayong, near Kuala Kangsar this evening, was found floating near the bridge several hours later.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Sayani Saidon said information from the public stated that the victim, identified as Muhammad Miqaell Qabillah Azhar, was taking a bath in Sungai Perak at about 5 pm.

He said villagers had been searching for the victim since he went missing before the Fire Department received a call at 7.46 pm.

He said the victim was found by members of the public about 10 metres from the river bank at 7.55 pm.

"The victim was confirmed dead by medical personnel at the scene and the body was handed over to police for further action,” he said tonight. - BERNAMA
