Perikatan Nasional’s victory in three states has sparked mixed reactions among experts and analysts.

They have expressed that PN has been riding on the work carried out by Pas for decades.

Pacific Research Centre of Malaysia's principal adviser, Dr Oh Ei Sun, opined that the coalition's win is actually Pas's win, which is synonous to 'greenwave'.

"I don't think it's quite a PN win; I think it's more of a Pas win, and the greenwave.

"I believe those who voted for PN were driven by Pas. I would say that the PN is an increasingly Pas-dominated political party.

"As for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), they may have received votes in yesterday's state election, owing to their affiliation with Pas," Oh added.

He also explained that Bersatu is no longer wealthy.

"Now that they are no longer wealthy because they are associated with Pas, they have a better chance of winning in any constituency," he said.

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) associate professor of political Science Dr Syaza Shukri also said PN is riding on decades of work by PAS.

"However I do believe that PN’s growth since its inception is admirable in the sense that they were able to read the people’s pulse and align their parties accordingly," she said.

Yesterday’s state election saw PN retaining Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
