SHAH ALAM - Umno Supreme Council Member, Isham Jalil supports Umno Youth's plan to hold a special gathering to review the party's dire performance in the state election last Saturday.

Isham said the essential move was to safeguard the party's future and prevent its from its end before the next general election (GE16).

"We have to be true to ourselves and dare to instigate change during these trying times," he said.

Yesterday, Berita Harian reported Umno Youth would be organising a special gathering to address the 'elephant in the room' plaguing Umno, causing the party to face a great defeat in the recent state elections.

Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh expressed his wishes to bring the voices of grassroots members to the upper levels of the party to ensure a positive change could be initiated.

"We wish to conduct a post-mortem of the recent state election results while also raising concerns of Umno grassroots members.

"Regardless of whether the post-mortem results require the Umno Youth Chief to step down, we will continue to organise the gathering.

"What matters s the will of the people. As leaders, we must have the courage to do so for the sake of the party's struggle," he was quoted in Berita Harian, the Malay daily.
