SHAH ALAM – The combing process of a light aircraft crash at Elmina, here, today, will not take more than 24 hours.

A Malaysia Civil Defence Department (APM) officer when met said that the combing process investigation would go on for several hours but would not take a long time.

"Usually, such crashes won't take until night and it would be over by 7pm and we have been here since 3pm," he said when met at the scene.

At the scene, several next of kin of the victims arrived at about 5pm upon hearing the news of the crashed aircraft.

Besides the relatives, the incident also attracted the locals to gather at the scene to see the crash site.

A fresh graduate Anura Annuar, 26 said she went straight to the scene after she received the news on social media.

"My condolences for the victim's families," she said.

Another resident who is staying nearby, Sham Sofi, 43 arrived at the scene after he heard of the news.

"I'm not sure what happened and came here after the crash to find out more," the lorry driver said.

The aircraft, operated by Jet Valet Sdn Bhd, departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm en route to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that there were six passengers and two flight crew onboard the aircraft including prominent people whose names had not been released yet.

The aircraft crashed at Elmina at about 2.45pm and claimed the lives of 10 individuals including motorcyclists.
