Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry seizes 47,540 litres of subsidised diesel

JOHOR BAHRU - The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry successfully exposes subsidised diesel embezzlement activities and seized 47,540 litres of fuel and items estimated valued at RM267,457 in Taman Perindustrian Plentong, Masai here on Saturday.
Acting Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the raid through Op Tiris was carried out by a team from the ministry at 8.10pm after six months of gathering intelligence.
“This syndicate uses several lorries that would be filled with subsidised diesel in several petrol stations throughout the Pasir Gudang, Masai and Kempas Expressways.
“The diesel would then be sent to the illegal storage and sold in the market. This was the method and modus operandi used for the subsidised diesel smuggling syndicate,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Armizan said a 37-year-old local man who claimed to be a trailer driver had been arrested to assist in the investigations.
“A tanker, two bonded lorries, a pickup truck and diesel were seized with an estimated value of RM267,457.
“Investigation papers have been opened and further investigations in the case would be done under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 to identify individuals or companies involved in this activity as well as the diesel oil distribution chain,” he said.
