JOHOR BAHRU - The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) will improve the Price Catcher mobile application to boost its usage.

Acting minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said that the number of downloads for the app is still low, with only 293,499 downloads so far. The daily visitor rate is also only around 2,000 people.

"We at the KPDN level have decided how we can anchor this 'Price Catcher' application well so that it becomes more informative, more interactive so that users can use this application as a guide for them to see, monitor and make choices," he said.

The app allows users to compare the prices of 480 items that are monitored on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The monitoring is done at 1,500 premises throughout the country.

Armizan said that the improvement to the app will be done in terms of promotion and engagement sessions with stakeholders, customers, consumer associations, and industry players.

"We will meet the stakeholders next week and set a period of time to increase the use of this application among the community," he said.

He added that the KPDN is not satisfied with the current number of downloads and is committed to making the app more widely used.

The Price Catcher mobile application was developed in 2018 using the Android and iOS platforms.
