Fire razes 12 containers transformed into ‘rumah kongsi’

SERDANG - A total of 12 containers which have been transformed into ‘rumah kongsi’ (living quarters) at Jalan Athmosphere-Bandar Putra Permai, here, caught fire today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the department received a distress call at 2.28pm.
He said a team of 26 firefighters and officers along with fire engines from the Serdang and Cyberjaya fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
"When the rescue team arrived at the location, they found that 12 units of containers used as accommodations for construction workers were 90 per cent destroyed in the blaze.
"There were no casualties reported and the situation was under control by 2.46pm.
“The cause of the fire is still under investigation," he said.
