SHAH ALAM - Over the past six months, police have engaged in about 100 collaborations with assemblymen to combat crime, said the Selangor police chief.

Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said it involves various areas with 11 in Ampang Jaya, 15 in Gombak, 43 in Petaling Jaya, 18 in Subang Jaya and 13 in South Klang, so a total of 100 engagements.

He said most of the engagements are held in auditoriums, malls, mosque fields and also commercial areas with politicians on crime prevention programmes on threats and scams.

He said the community engagements are financed by the community or the private sector.

The police also allocate a budget for organising such programmes, allowing for a wider reach and more extensive awareness efforts throughout the state.

He also touched on the positive impact of the engagements, especially crime reduction over the past five years.

“Crime has reduced and we could continuously we can reduce crime with focus on cybercrime," he said.
