PETALING JAYA - Dissatisfaction arising from frequent scolding and humiliation is suspected to be the motive behind a man's killing of his father.

The victim's body was then wrapped in curtains and abandoned by the roadside in front of a condominium in Sungai Way here on Saturday.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, stated that the victim, in his 70s, had often pressured the suspect, who was reluctant to work.

"The victim also frequently criticised the suspect for his alcohol addiction," he said at a press conference at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) here today.

Mohamad Fakhrudin said that in the incident at 12.30am, the suspect in his 40s, suspected to be intoxicated, had allegedly beaten his father with a shovel, causing his death.

"We received information from the victim's relative that they found the elderly man's body at the scene of the incident at 2.15am on Saturday," he said.

Based on information and intelligence, a team of police officers from the Petaling Jaya District Police arrested the suspect in Bandar Sunway here at 9.10am on the same day, he added.

"Further investigation revealed that the suspect had two criminal records related to embezzlement cases and possession of dangerous weapons," he said.
