Husband, wife killed in fire caused by electrical appliance

KAJANG - An Indonesian married couple died after their house caught fire in an incident at Jalan Megah 8, Taman Megah, here, this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said a team of firefighters from the Kajang fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 2.13am.
He said the fire was believed to have involved an electrical appliance located beneath the stairs of the double-storey terrace house.
"There are two victims involved who are an Indonesian married couple in their 50s and 40s who suffered burns and suffocation before being pronounced dead.
"About three per cent of the house was destroyed in the fire," he said in a statement, today.
He said the bodies of both victims were handed over to the police for further action.
