JOHOR BAHRU - The Attorney-General’s Chambers's (AGC) move to withdraw Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi charges yesterday is seen as a move to strengthen Umno and regain the support of the Malay community.

Johor Umno Youth leader Noor Azleen Ambros expressed that this decision has brought relief to Umno leaders at all levels.

"Johor Umno Youth welcomes the Kuala Lumpur High Court's decision to release (without acquittal) the Umno president from his previous 47 charges.

"The Public Prosecutor's choice not to pursue the case, supported by 11 arguments and reasons, clearly demonstrates that all the charges against Zahid were politically motivated.

"Also, there was an attempt to misuse the judiciary to bring down Umno as an institution," he said in a statement today.

Azleen also highlighted that justice has been unequivocally served as Zahid effectively utilised legal channels to clear his name and restore his tarnished reputation due to the allegations.

"Thanks to his efforts, the authority, image, and credibility of Umno under Zahid's leadership are expected to improve, ensuring that Umno can once again win the trust and support of the Malay community through its commendable efforts and initiatives," he added.
