KOTA BHARU - The Kelantan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a civil servant yesterday, suspected of soliciting and accepting approximately RM45,000 in bribes.

Sources have indicated that the money was given in exchange for appointing a company as a supplier for a programme under a government department in the state.

According to the source, the man in his 30s was reportedly arrested around 9.45 a.m at the MACC office in Kelantan when he was summoned to provide a statement.

"The suspect is also believed to have forged the signature of a female officer to approve the appointment letter as a supplier," they said.

The source also mentioned that the forged signature was intended to deceive the company owner into paying the requested bribe.

Meanwhile, Kelantan MACC Director Rosli Husain confirmed the arrest and stated that the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
