GEORGETOWN - Penang Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), the PKR youth wing, has urged all Muda people's representatives to resign and return the people's support if the party truly holds on to its principles and struggles.

Its information chief Abshar Nurasyraf, said that the decision made by Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was expected a long time ago.

"His and Muda's action on Sunday was made because the Unity Government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had supposedly violated the red line of their fight's principles.

"If they do stick to their principles, all the Muda MPs need to resign and return their support to the people. Only that can be said to have principles.

"If it is true that he made this decision based on principles, then he is also obliged to showcase his true principles," he said in a media statement today.

He said that in the Johor state election in 2022, Muda had won one seat in Puteri Wangsa, while Saddiq secured the Muar seat in the last 15th General Election.

"This is all the result of the undivided support and spirit of the staunch supporters and machinery of Pakatan Harapan (PH).

"In that spirit as well, today, the Muda party has two representatives. Imagine if PH supporters did not support; of course they would lose their deposits," he said.

"In the country's efforts to become a Malaysia Madani, as a young leader at the national level, he must help and mobilise support to help the government contribute policy ideas and thoughtful policies towards the fate of the vulnerable and the youth.

"Not just acting as a figure who looks for fault in the government, but sitting together with the previous government," he said.

In the meantime, Abshar also asked Saddiq to not only accuse other parties of evil to make himself look good.

"If principles are the measure, then his principles are definitely better, so this is the time to prove that Muda brings idealism and new politics to the country.

"My message to Muda and Syed Saddiq is: don't be like the stars in the sky that can be counted, but the coals on their faces, they are not aware of.

"He himself was involved in a trial of four charges of breach of trust, property abuse, and money laundering (AMLA) in the High Court," he said.

He added that in the past six state polls, Muda himself had violated the consensus with the Unity coalition when they put their own candidates against the candidates from the coalition parties that had agreed to form the Unity Government.

Previously, Muda was reported to act as a third-party opposition, thus withdrawing support from the Unity Government.

Saddiq pointed out that a notification letter on the matter had been submitted to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, yesterday.

The Muar Member of Parliament said that the decision to retract the support was made after discussing it with the party leadership and admitted that it was a difficult decision to take.

The former Youth and Sports Minister stressed that he would not allow Malaysia to normalise corruption and would stick to his principles.
