KUALA LUMPUR - Several Umno leaders were seen arriving at the Menara Dato Onn grounds at the World Trade Centre (WTC) to attend the Supreme Council meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting today is said to focus on several major decisions that are expected to be made, among them the sacking of several party members, including Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil.

Those present were Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Umno Supreme Council members Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

It was reported that the meeting, chaired by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was scheduled to begin at 8pm.

Isham revealed on Monday, through a Facebook statement, that his name may be listed among members to be sacked in the party meeting this week because he claimed he did not want to promote DAP.

Isham claimed there were pro-DAP Umno Supreme Council members who asked him to step down, but he refused to do so as the post he held was the choice of the grassroots.

He said several more Umno members were reportedly understood to have been sacked in the meeting.

The meeting tonight was expected to discuss the actions of Rembia Assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis because he attended the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate nomination ceremony for the Pulai Parliament and Simpang Renggam State Assembly by-election in Bakri, Johor, recently.
