KUALA PILAH - The concerns of four families in Kampung Ulu Beting here, regarding the presence of a panther at their residence, have come to an end as the wild animal has been successfully captured.

The panther was caught in a trap set by the Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) early this morning.

Rusmazaiti Kamarulzaman, 31, stated that she and her husband, Abdul Mizan Mohd Haris, 42, heard strange noises outside their house, and when they opened the curtain, they discovered that a panther had entered the trap.

According to her, baiting with three puppies for nearly a week had yielded results.

"Earlier this morning, while it was still dark, I thought it was a small one, but when it became light, I realised that the panther was quite large. Nevertheless, I am relieved that this panther has successfully entered the trap.

"However, before this, there were many footprints, and it is believed that more than one panther was roaming around here. Perhilitan also arrived promptly to monitor the situation," she said today.

Previously, Sinar reported that four families were anxious when a panther appeared in front of their homes.

Before that, two dogs that were guarding their garden disappeared without a trace and were presumably victims of the animal.
