KL police record statements from 11 individuals over Save Malaysia rally

KUALA LUMPUR - City police have recorded statements from 11 individuals identified as being involved in the "Save Malaysia" rally in the capital city last Saturday.

Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said 11 individuals have come forward to have their statements recorded at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.

"We will be calling in several more individuals to have their statements recorded," he said when contacted today.

Among those who gave their statements at 10.30am were Muafakat Nasional (MN) supreme council member Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Srikandi Muda chief Nurul Fadzilah Kamaluddin and Taman Medan Assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin.

Tun Faisal, after finishing his statement, said that three lawyers accompanied him to provide statements regarding the organisation of the gathering.

"During the process, three matters were asked and raised by the police, including the reports made last Saturday. For me, this is a routine process conducted by the police even though, in my view, this investigation has no basis," he said.

Tun Faisal said during the statement-giving period, they cooperated well with the police.

"Each person who was called in by the authorities was requested to provide statements according to the schedule," he said.

Yesterday, Dellhan Yahaya confirmed that a total of 25 individuals were summoned to provide statements to assist in the investigation related to the gathering.

All of them were called in to assist in the investigation after the police initiated an investigation paper regarding the gathering.

The investigation is being carried out under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, Section 4(2)(b), and Section 4 (2)(e),(f) of the same act.
