MELAKA - People's dream of exploring the airspace from Melaka to Batu Pahat, Johor, by helicopter will come true when this activity is performed at the Melaka International Air Carnival 2023 (Kuam '23).

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said the joyride activity at 5,000 feet will be one of the highlights of the three-day carnival from Sept 29 to Oct 1 at Melaka International Airport (LTAM) in Batu Berendam.

"The fare for the 10-minute flight is RM270 per person and will be operated on a fixed schedule during the eighth edition of the carnival," he told reporters after attending the Kuam coordination meeting today.

He said a total of 41 aircraft, including eight from uniformed units, 22 small aircraft from aviation clubs, six paramotors, one microlight and two drones as well as simulators from the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) will be on display.

Meanwhile, Abdul Razak said the state government will redouble its efforts to promote Kuam'23 as foreign airlines from Germany, Singapore, Russia, Australia and Taiwan will also participate in the carnival with 17 pilots.

The Kuam'23 is expected to attract 45,000 visitors this year compared to 30,000 in previous years. - BERNAMA
