ALOR SETAR - The government is urged to disclose the latest developments in the investigation conducted by the special task force (STF) established by the government to probe allegations made by former Attorney-General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas.

Jerlun Member of Parliament, Abd Ghani Ahmad, has stated Tommy, through his book titled 'My Story: Justice in the Wilderness,' exposed issues regarding the alleged interference in the appointment of judges in the country's judicial system, including allegations of selective political prosecution.

He believes that the findings of the STF's investigation into the memoir should be made public because the people of Malaysia have the right to know the true issues involving the former politically appointed Attorney General.

"Last year Oct 27, the then Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, announced that the government had established the special task force.

"I would like to ask for the latest developments regarding the special task force. This is important to ensure that the government's actions are in line with the desire to combat corruption and uphold integrity," he explained.

Abd Ghani also raised this matter during the debate on the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament.

"I hope this question will be answered by Anwar during the wrapping-up session, as the report was prepared by the special task force from December 2021 to August 2022," he said.

Previously, in August 2022, Wan Junaidi announced that the special task force had presented and submitted a report on the matter to his ministry at a meeting attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Attorney General's Office, and the Chief Government Security Officer.
