MARANG - The dedication of Muhammad Nor Syahidin Abu Hassan in establishing his modern chicken farm in Terengganu should serve as an inspiration, especially for young people.

At 32 years old, Muhammad Nor Syahidin, the owner of Dinsan Farm, currently houses 25,500 chickens on his 1.2-hectare land and he hopes to meet the demand for chicken in Terengganu.

The farm, operational since Sept 19, can hold up to 150,000 chickens and features a machine that automatically distributes food and drinks to the chickens, eliminating the need for many workers.

"I bought the machine from a German company for RM300,000. A conventional farm may need between three and four workers to feed the chickens, with this machine there is no need for many workers.

" I just have to pour the chicken feed into one large container, press the switch and the food will be distributed throughout the coop. This technology also reduces the risk of human contact with live poultry, which is known to cause infections, ” said Muhammad Nor Syahidin when met by Bernama at his farm here.

Muhammad Nor Syahidin, who is assisted on the farm by a younger sister, said the machine had been used in Malaysia since 10 years ago, but now many local poultry farmers could afford it.

It is his passion for animal husbandry since his school days that led him to establish the chicken farm.

He has another chicken farm in Kampung Pasir Akar near Jertih, which also utilises similar technology and houses more than 20,000 chickens.
