Proton, smart Malaysia accept bookings for EV SUV

KUALA LUMPUR - Proton Holdings Bhd and smart Malaysia have signed an enhanced memorandum of agreement (MoA) that took place in Nanning, China today and said they will accept bookings for their electric vehicle (EV), the Smart #1, an SUV.

Smart Malaysia is a regional strategic partner of the smart brand, a premium all-electric automobile and technology brand.

Its chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the company is proud to be in Asean, as smart Automobile makes its first delivery of smart #1 in Malaysia.

"This milestone means that smart Malaysia is now ready to begin delivering the vehicle to customers in the fourth quarter of this year, with our nine dealerships gearing up to welcome them,” he said in a statement today.

Reservation can be made via the Hello smart app with a refundable RM1,000 booking fee.

The vehicle is available in three variants - Pro, Premium, and Brabus - tailored for the Malaysian market.

The smart #1 Pro comes in digital white, laser red, cyber silver, quantum blue, and future green. In addition to the five original colours, the Premium comes in atom grey - matte and lumen yellow, the statement said.

The on-the-road price excluding insurance for smart #1 Pro, Premium, and Brabus is between RM200,000 and RM250,000.

The first 501 customers will be rewarded with early bird perks which include RM1,001 in charging credits directly via the Hello smart app. - BERNAMA
