Pelangai by-election: Amizar is confident of the support from Felda settlers

BENTONG - Claims that voters in Felda settlements are no longer a strong Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold are considered mere political rhetoric during the campaign season for the Pelangai State Legislative Assembly by-election.

BN candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam said that, regardless of the claims made by a Felda resident, he is confident in the support that exists for the coalition.

"It's normal... It's political talk because both candidates are from Felda.

"If they (Pas) say it's not a strong BN stronghold, I'm from Felda, and I know where the strength of Felda lies.

"God willing, we will see. We'll wait and see," he told reporters when met at the Santuni Orang Asli Kampung Gapoi event here today.

He said this in response to the statement made by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man during a Perikatan Nasional (PN) campaign.

Tuan Ibrahim said this has been proven as the support of settlers was seen to have shifted to the PN in recent elections.

The Pelangai State Legislative Assembly also includes three Felda settlements: Felda Chemomoi, Felda Kemasul, and Felda Kemahal.

Based on the voter registration records of the Election Commission (EC), there are 7,983 voters in these three Felda settlements, compared to a total of 16,456 voters.
