BENTONG - The Health Ministry is ready to tackle the monsoon transition season and potential flooding by having 453 alternative facilities available as backup facilities in case of flooding.

This was stressed by Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa today during her visit to Klinik Kesihatan Chemomoi.

She added that a total of 552 healthcare facilities under the Health Ministry have been identified as being at risk.

"As we enter the monsoon transition season, it is crucial to note that November and December will bring monsoon winds, followed by the northeast monsoon from November to March, increasing the likelihood of flooding disasters," Dr Zaliha said.

She also revealed that the Health Ministry has collaborated with the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) to confront impending flood disasters better.

Preparations extend to personnel and equipment, including medication and vehicle assets.

"Notably, psychological treatment services are also being provided to address the mental health needs of those affected," she added.

Dr Zaliha said that these comprehensive measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of the community during this challenging monsoon season.
