SHAH ALAM - A video of a brand new Proton X70 allegedly catching fire at an inspection centre circulates on social media.

In the video, bystanders were seen with fire extinguishers to douse the flames.

The incident was believed to have taken place at Puspakom Alor Gajah.

In August, a similar incident happened when a Proton X90 was on fire.

A video circulated which showed the vehicle covered with thick smoke resulting from the fire.

Proton had issued a clarification that the explosion caused in the Proton X90 was not from a 48V mild hybrid battery.

The national carmaker also contacted Proton X90 owners to bring their vehicles for inspection to eliminate any risk.
