TUARAN - A man on his way to his workplace died after a tree fell and crushed him near Jalan Kampung Impian Jadi, here on Thursday.

In the 7.30 an incident, the victim identified as Syair Sukma, 45, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Abd Qawie Abd Gapar said the department received a distress call on the incident at 7.58am.

He said nine personnel rushed to the scene located about 11 kilometres from Tuaran fire station.

“Based on the information gathered, the victim was crushed by a tree while riding a motorcycle. He was on his way from Kampung Simpangan to his workplace in Borneo Beach.

“Firemen who arrived at the scene cut and removed the fallen tree to extricate the victim,” he said when contacted by Sinar on Thursday.

Qawie said the victim’s body was brought to the Tuaran Hospital by the police forensic unit for further action.

“Operations ended at 9.45am after ensuring no other hazards were at the scene,” he said.
