SHAH ALAM – As he bids farewell, outgoing Pas Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has implored the wing’s members to retain the newly-elected leadership line-up until the year 2027, so that it could help bolster Pas’ electoral prowess in the 16th General Election (GE16).

The Pasir Mas MP delivered the parting mandate in his speech at the Pas Youth 64th Muktamar which marked the end of his one-term stint as the Youth chief that began in 2021.

“Tonight, I am not saddened at all to leave Pas Youth. Why? Because those sitting behind me are way more capable to spearhead Pas Youth than I ever was.

“If I can make one suggestion then, it would be for this new team to maintain not just for 2025 but all the way till 2027, so that it can focus on Pas’ agenda in facing GE16,” he said.

At its wing polls for the term 2023-2025 today, Pas Youth saw a series of uncontested victories for almost all top posts that were up for grabs including the chief post which was, by default, won by Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden.

The Pas Youth election saw only one competitive race, involving the election of 12 committee members vied by 15 candidates.

In his speech, Fadhli stressed that the biggest hurdle for Pas Youth to overcome has always been its mission to dispel and quash skepticisms it faced from the non-Muslim community in Malaysia.

Such challenge, he claimed was one that was even espoused and longed for by the late Pas spiritual leader Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

“Alhamdulillah, when we were with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) our image was cleared but unfortunately, that was so because of DAP’s help. The non-Muslims believed DAP, their ‘qiblat’ was DAP.

“Now, we can no longer depend on DAP to help clear Pas’ image in the eyes of the non-Malays and non-Muslims. We must do it ourselves. And if we can do it, Pas will be the main leader of the new administration in Malaysia.

“One that will bring the country towards Allah’s blessing,” Fadhli said as he ended his speech amid a thunderous applause from delegates on the floor.
