ALOR SETAR - A woman died while her sister was seriously injured after the Honda Wave motorcycle they were riding was hit by a Proton Satria car driven by a 14-year-old teenage girl in Jalan Kuala Kedah, yesterday.

The victim identified as Nur Syafiqah Abdullah, 32, died at the scene while her sister Nooraliza, 43, who was riding the motorcycle with her was injured in the left leg, chest and waist.

Acting Kota Setar district police Superintendent Syed Basri Syed Ali said the Kota Setar District Police Headquarters (IPD) traffic inquiry office received information regarding a road accident involving a motorcycle and a car at 7.05 pm.

He said initial investigation found that two sisters were heading towards Kuala Kedah while the Proton Satria car was from the opposite direction.

"The accident is believed to have occurred when the driver of the car lost control and hit the divider in the middle of the road and then entered the opposite road and crashed into the motorcycle that the two victims were riding.

"During the incident, it was raining and the road was wet," he said.

Syed Basri said the teenage girl only suffered a wound on her nose.
