Its director, S. Jegan, said the two local men in their 40s, who were lorry drivers, were arrested in the Ops Tiris raid at 4.45 am in Juru and 7.30 am in Simpang Ampat after a week-long investigation and surveillance.
"In the first raid in Juru, we arrested a red lorry that was refuelling in a suspicious manner. Upon checking, we found six storage tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 litres, used for filling diesel. All these tanks contained 4,800 litres of diesel.
"In the second raid, we tried to stop a white lorry that was filling up with diesel. When the suspect noticed our enforcement officers, he attempted to flee by ramming a KPDN vehicle.
"However, with the help of the police and the KPDN Intelligence Unit, we were able to arrest the suspect along with the lorry,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the two suspects were believed to be buying diesel from several petrol stations at the subsidised price before selling it to buyers at higher prices.
The duo was arrested for further investigation under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. - BERNAMA
