MAF receive RM5 million sponsorship

PETALING JAYA - The Malaysia Athletics Federation (MAF) received a huge RM5 million boost after signing a three-year sponsorship agreement with Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (Cahya Mata) today.

The sponsorship agreement will see Cahya Mata and MAF focus on the well-being of champion athletes, strengthen financial and resource support, promote leadership and character and train and educate young athletes.

MAF president Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said that the sponsorship would play a crucial role in helping them achieve their goals in developing the national athletes.

"This funding is a very important support in providing financial backing and resources through athlete coaching and development. This is a major sponsor, specifically for these purposes.

"With this support, achievements and success in sports will continue to become a reality, bringing more gold medals and pride to Malaysia,” he told a media conference at the signing of the sponsorship agreement between the MAF and Cahya Mata Sarawak today.

Cahya Mata Group chairman Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin hopes that the sponsorship can help the MAF realise their vision and mission of producing more athletes at the grassroots level.
